Recipients of Council funding must assure and demonstrate their compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To help them assess themselves and develop their plans, the Council and the Cultural Access Network of New Jersey (formerly the NJ Arts Access Task Force) have developed the following materials and make them available to arts and cultural organizations to aid in their accessibility work and ADA compliance.
ADA Self-Assessment Survey and Planning Tool - This new tool combining the most recent ADA guidelines and the best assessment ideas from around the country is intended to help cultural groups assess their current status with regard to ADA compliance in order to then write a plan outlining current status and steps to address areas of non-compliance. Beginning with FY04, all New Jersey State Council on the Arts General Operating (GOS) and General Program Support (GPS) grantees (not applicants) will be required to go through this self-assessment and then write a plan using the below format. Submission and approval of an adequate plan will be a condition for receiving final payments for FY04. The Self-Assessment Survey is a tool for grantees and is not to be submitted with the plan.
Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Plan Outline - This new standardized outline is intended to help cultural groups develop a complete, well-organized accessibility plan and will help standardize all ADA plans in the cultural community.
Project Accessibility Checklist - This new Checklist is required to be completed and submitted by organizations applying for Special Projects, Project Serving Artists and Community Arts Collaborations that are not also a General Operating or General Program Support grantee. The Checklist is to be submitted with the application.
