Arts Education
Arts education is essential to a complete quality education for all children. This means learning in, about and through the arts. Education in the visual and performing arts is a K-12 public school requirement as part of the State's Core Curriculum Content Standards. The research on the array of benefits of arts education is both voluminous and compelling. And if nothing else, it is now crystal clear that arts education engenders the qualities most valuable to success in our modern world: creativity, innovation, discipline and communication.

We are also learning of the remarkable benefits that continued education and engagement in the arts provide throughout a life time, particularly for older adults and in the realm of health care. The financial implications alone are staggering.

Helping to ensure quality arts education is among the Arts Council's highest priorities and you will find all the ways that we seek to achieve it by visiting our Arts Education room.

In this section we will provide information on key issues affecting arts education within the field and ways you can become more involved. A NJ Arts Education Partnership has formed to help lead the effort and an exciting Arts Education Census Project has been completed that reveals the status of arts education in every public school in New Jersey. To learn more about the Census Project and arts education in New Jersey schools visit www.artsednj.org. To learn more about other arts education programs and initiatives throughout our state and across the nation visit the Resource Room.
